Frequently Asked Questions About Coaching

What is Executive and Leadership Coaching?

A co-creation conversation that unlocks new and different  ways of thinking, by leaving behind mental blocks, limiting beliefs and negative behaviours to create opportunity, decisiveness, higher productivity and thus a higher level of performance in a much shorter period of time.

How does Coaching work?

You, the client, do all the work. Carol creates a “safe space” for you to share issues, consider your own underlying beliefs behind them and explore your alternatives, and you decide on the best way to achieve your and your companies’ purpose.

You can then plan to achieve and create accountabilities around that.

How can Coaching help me?

You get to share everything on your mind about the issues you face with a confidential, non-judgemental coach. Carol is there to support you in finding your own answers.

Why do people hire and work with Executive Coaches?

Being a CEO, Senior Leader or Founder can be a lonely place. The buck stops with you. Senior clients need to share, vent, let off steam and de-stress to regain perspective. At equilibrium, they can begin to build up their thought processes around purpose, values and culture and construct a plan to achieve this, with key accountabilities built in.

Why can’t I coach myself?

Many leaders are self-starters, who may have the ability to motivate themselves and develop their thinking, These people  often benefit from being challenged and pushed via a coaching collaboration. For others working with a coach helps them leave behind the “day-to-day” and focus on their needs.

What's the difference between coaching and mentoring or consulting?

Coaching is described as “nondirective”. The coach supports and challenges the client, to evolve by developing new thinking, adapting behaviours and embracing changes. In mentoring or consulting the client is directed to make change, try new approaches or behave differently.

Is it a sign of weakness if I hire a coach?

Hiring an Executive Coach means you know you can do better, want to achieve more and be able to succeed, quicker. It’s the most positive step you can take in leadership or founder development.

What does Coaching cost?

Coaching is an investment — in yourself. Improving your health, wellbeing and performance is the best investment you can make.

How much time will this take?

Your commitment will determine your success. The investment is both your time and the cost. From regular weekly or monthly calls, face to face sessions or the coach on retainer as part of their team. Options are flexible around that works for you.

How long is a coaching session?

Typically 1 ½ - 2 hours a session. However, this is a bespoke relationship. Whatever method suits your learning style and dedicated availability is what is right for you.

What does a coach really do?

A coach helps you reconnect with your superpowers and the motivation and momentum you had when starting out. So you start to look forward to the things you have come to dread, knowing you can positively and proactively deal with them and move on.
